Circus never
stands still

At Upsala-Circus, we’re always heading somewhere — and more often than not, somewhere nothing is quite clear yet, but everything feels incredibly exciting.

1

Heiterkeit — a premiere
at the Bauhaus

4–5 September  ·  Dessau

Heiterkeit

Heiterkeit · Bauhaus Dessau

This year, Bauhaus Dessau celebrates its 100th anniversary. As part of the centenary programme, it will host the major Salto | Takt | Form festival — and this is where our new performance Heiterkeit will premiere.

It is a nighttime open-air performance about freedom, the power of choice, and our ability to keep playing and creating together even when the world around us becomes uncertain.

Contemporary circus, object theatre, movement, experimental music, water and light — across three performances on the grounds of the legendary Bauhaus building.

Circus arrives at
Leipzig Central Station

12 September, 18:00  ·  Leipzig Hauptbahnhof, Osthalle

Cases

Cases · Leipzig Hauptbahnhof

For one evening, Leipzig Central Station will become the stage for Cases — a performance without words based on the personal migration stories of our artists.

Leaving — and becoming a stranger in a new place. Staying — and watching everything familiar around you change. In this performance, the body does the talking, so there are no language barriers.

Free admission, ages 10+.

“45 Minutes” heads
to the Yellow Mill

17–21 September  ·  Moulin Jaune, near Paris

45 Minutes

“45 Minutes” · Moulin Jaune

From 17 to 21 September, our teenage group “45 Minutes” sets off on its first big journey together — to Slava Polunin’s Yellow Mill near Paris.

The Yellow Mill is an artistic laboratory and an ever-changing garden of wonders where theatre, nature, architecture, play and everyday life come together.

The group will perform its own programme there. For them, this is their first journey on such a scale — and it takes them straight to a place where the wildest ideas become part of reality.

We’ll be sure to tell you and show you how it went.

Three events, three completely different spaces: the Bauhaus, a railway station and a magical garden. And in each of them, circus becomes a way to speak about freedom, home, people and our ability to wonder.

See you in September!

Help keep the
circus moving

A circus is held aloft not only by the hands of its artists. It also depends on people who are ready to lend a hand.

If what we do matters to you, please support Upsala-Circus with a recurring donation. And yes: even €5 a month is brilliant. Small regular donations add up to the steady support that helps us run training sessions, plan projects and dream up the next impossible act.
