Cases grew out of the artists’ own stories of migration, told in the language of circus: the body, objects, a suitcase that holds an entire life. Not a word is spoken on stage, so nothing is lost in translation. Cases wyrosło z własnych historii migracyjnych naszych artystów, opowiedzianych językiem cyrku: ciałem, przedmiotami, walizką, która mieści całe życie. Na scenie nie pada ani jedno słowo, więc nic nie ginie w tłumaczeniu.

1. 01 The languageJęzyk

   The language of circus takes that barrier away, and we get to live the feeling together with the audience Język cyrku znosi tę barierę i możemy przeżywać emocję razem z publicznością

   Difficult themes are best approached through images. The language of circus is supple, and it reaches people whatever language they speak: it lets us talk in symbols and with the body. It removes the barrier between us, so that performers and audience live through the same feeling without anyone counting words. Do trudnych tematów najlepiej podchodzić przez obrazy. Język cyrku jest giętki i dociera do ludzi niezależnie od tego, jakim językiem mówią: pozwala mówić symbolami i ciałem. Znosi barierę między nami, więc artyści i publiczność przeżywają to samo, nie licząc słów.

2. 02 The imageObraz

   What has life packed into your suitcase? That depends on how you look at it Co życie spakowało do twojej walizki? To zależy, jak na nią spojrzysz

   A suitcase is not only a story about migration. It is an image for everything a life has packed into us. When we are born, our family, our country and the people closest to us hand us a suitcase. After that we either carry it with us and draw strength and inspiration from it, or we set it down, or we tip it out and pack something new. One image, and everyone in the room already has an answer of their own. Walizka to nie tylko opowieść o migracji. To obraz tego, co życie w nas spakowało. Kiedy się rodzimy, rodzina, kraj i najbliżsi wręczają nam walizkę. Potem albo niesiemy ją dalej i czerpiemy z niej siłę i inspirację, albo ją odstawiamy, albo wytrząsamy ją do końca i pakujemy coś nowego. Jeden obraz, a każdy na sali ma już własną odpowiedź.

3. 03 The searchPoszukiwanie

   The theme of a performance is not invented at a desk. It is found together with the people whose lives it touches: our artists brought their own stories, and those stories turned into images, music and movement. We also took away the line between the stage and the seats, because the point is not something to watch but a conversation that carries on afterwards. That search is the method, and it is exactly what you practise in the workshop. Temat spektaklu nie powstaje przy biurku. We hold those views side by side without judging them, and we choose to move forward rather than to dwell on the pain.
