How the method worksSå fungerar metoden

Cases grew from the migration stories of its own artists, told in the language of circus: body, objects, a suitcase that holds a whole life. No words on stage, so nothing gets lost in translation. Cases växte fram ur artisternas egna migrationshistorier, berättade på cirkusens språk: kroppen, föremålen, en resväska som rymmer ett helt liv. Inga ord på scenen, så ingenting går förlorat i översättningen.

1. 01 The languageSpråket

   The language of circus takes away that border, and we can live the emotion together with the audience Cirkusens språk tar bort den gränsen, och vi kan leva känslan tillsammans med publiken

   Difficult themes are best approached through images. The language of circus is flexible and it reaches people whatever language they speak: it lets us speak in symbols and with the body. It removes the border of communication, so the artists and the audience live through the same emotion without counting words. Svåra teman närmar man sig bäst genom bilder. Cirkusens språk är rörligt och når fram oavsett vilket språk man talar: det låter oss tala i symboler och med kroppen. Det tar bort gränsen i kommunikationen, så att artisterna och publiken lever igenom samma känsla utan att räkna ord.

2. 02 The imageBilden

   What has life put in your suitcase? It depends on how you look at it Vad har livet lagt i din resväska? Det beror på hur du ser på det

   A suitcase is not only a story about migration. It is an image of life experience. When we are born, our family, our country and the people close to us hand us a suitcase. After that we either carry it forward and take strength and inspiration out of it, or we put it down, or we shake it out and pack something new. One image, and every person in the room already has their own answer. En resväska är inte bara en berättelse om migration. Den är en bild av livserfarenhet. När vi föds räcker vår familj, vårt land och våra närmaste oss en väska. Sedan bär vi den antingen vidare och hämtar kraft och inspiration ur den, eller ställer vi ner den, eller så vänder vi ut och in på den och packar något nytt. En enda bild, och alla i rummet har redan sitt eget svar.

3. 03 The searchSökandet

   We are here, and we want to know about you Vi är här, och vi vill veta något om er

   The theme of a performance is not invented at a desk. It is found together with the people whose lives it touches: the artists brought their own stories, and those stories turned into images, music and movement. We also took away the border between the stage and the audience, because the point is not something to watch but a conversation that continues afterwards. This search is the method, and this is exactly what you practise at the workshop. Temat för en föreställning uppfinns inte vid ett skrivbord. Det hittas tillsammans med de människor vars liv det handlar om: artisterna tog med sina egna historier, och historierna blev till bilder, musik och rörelse. Vi tog också bort gränsen mellan scenen och salongen, för poängen är inte något att titta på utan ett samtal som fortsätter efteråt. Det sökandet är metoden, och det är precis det du övar på under workshopen.

Point of view The same situation seen through the eyes of different, sometimes opposite, people. We hold those views side by side without judging them, and we choose moving forward over suffering. Samma situation sedd genom ögonen på olika, ibland motsatta, människor. Vi håller de perspektiven bredvid varandra utan att döma, och vi väljer att gå framåt snarare än att lida.
